Growth is driven by the retirement of passenger 777 aircraft with substantial remaining structural life, a persistent shortfall in belly-hold cargo capacity industry-wide, and the payload advantage the 777-300ERSF offers relative to new-build freighter alternatives.
Israel Aerospace Industries, through its Bedek Aviation Group, received the first Supplemental Type Certificate for a 777-300ER conversion in September 2025, with AerCap as launch customer and Kalitta Air as first operator.
The 777-300ER conversion, known as the 777-300ERSF, offers a higher payload capacity and currently holds the larger share of committed orders, while 777-200ER-based programs are scaling faster from a smaller starting base as additional providers enter certification.
Asia Pacific is the fastest-growing region at a 43.4% CAGR, driven by e-commerce-linked cargo growth and cargo operators absorbing aircraft converted through North American and Israeli programs.
